Hello! I am a wife, a mom, Jesus follower, book worm, and lover of adveture! I am a wedding photographer located in Denver and though I primarily shoot in Colorado, I am often taken over by wanderlust and am available for worldwide travel! I specialize in photographing joyful and adventurous couples that are head over heels in love! I love everything about weddings!! On this blog I will be sharing wedding inspiration, travel adventures, and personal stories. I love the creative side of what I do, but I also really enjoy the business aspect. Especially the marketing side! I will be sharing what I learn along the way as well!
Della Terra Mountain Chateau – wedding photography
I have the joyful pleasure of living in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful locations in the world (in my humble opinion!) I have been many different places all over the world and out of everywhere I have seen, Colorado remains one of the most awe inspiring! I LOVE being able to go to “work” in such stunning locations all over this gorgeous state! One of my very favorite venues in Colorado is the Della Terra Mountain Chateau! It is absolutely stunning! The chateau is nestled in the quaint small town of Estes Park just a short drive from one of the entrances into Rocky Mountain National Park.
Not only is the venue stunning, but it is owned by the most amazing individuals! They employee some of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with! I always feel like family the second I walk through the door!
This past September my dad and I took a photo inspired adventurous road trip to Grand Teton National Park. I had never been before and had no idea what to expect… Oh my gosh!! Was I completely blown away! As we entered the park I was swooning over all of the yellow and orange that blanked the meadows and created a magical tunnel around the road… I should let you know that fall is my absolute most FAVORITE time of the year!
Before I start, I want to empathize that not everyone posses the qualities of a great leader and THAT IS OKAY! Not everyone is meant to be a leader of a country or be the CEO of a company. However, each and everyone one of us is a leader in one way or another. If you are a parent, you are a leader of your children and are intrusted with a precious responsibility. If you manage a bookstore, you are a leader of those working for you. If you are in a position in your life where anyone at all might look up to you for guidance – YOU ARE A LEADER and should take such a position seriously. “Even without having a position of authority, one can be a leader, based on special skills and knowledge.”
I didn’t grow up knowing I wanted to be a photographer that would one day document love stories. When I was little I wanted to Ariel and swim in the ocean with Flounder and Sebastian. In 7th grade I was going to be in a band with my two best friends. I was going to play the drums! Have I ever held drumsticks in my hands? Nope, but that didn’t matter! Obviously that was a short-lived dream, but at the time it was what we wanted! We even wrote about it in our 7th grade yearbooks! In high school I wanted to be a forensic scientist (I watched a lot of CSI!)… The sky was the limit!
I’m not sure at what point in our lives that we stop dreaming in the same way we did as kids… When anything was possible and there was no doubt in our minds that we could make it happen. We dreamed without even trying.
I have wanted to revamp my website for awhile now. I have been researching many different website companies/designers. There are tons of wonderful options out there, but I was blown away by Showit. They are much more than just a website company. Showit is a community of creatives that come together to build each other up and encourage one another to be great! It’s about community, not competition. Having communities in our life is so very important and I am beyond blessed to have found this one!!
I’m SO excited that my sisters getting married!!!!!
I am beyond excited that my little sisters getting married!! SHE is my best friend and one of the most incredible human beings ever! Growing up we weren’t the closest… as many young girls that are a year and half apart can attest to! BUT I don’t know what I would do without her now! She is humble, selfless, adventurous, and extremely compassionate. I admire her and the way that she cares about others. She has a heart for helping and serving people. She truly inspires me and I just love her SO much!
There isn’t a right answer to the question of whether or not you should hire someone to photograph your proposal. Everyone is different and it is completely personal preference!!
I personally LOVE photographing proposals. They are one of the most romantic experiences! I find myself getting giddy and excited for them while I am hiding somewhere off in the distance waiting for that perfect moment!
There is one proposal that has always stuck out and that is Austin and Mckenna! Austin had contacted me shortly before he and Mckenna had a road trip out to Colorado planned. He was going to propose to her during their stay at Della Terra Mountain Chateau. What an absolutely breathtaking location!!! Mckenna was in tears and the joy on her face was incredible! Then Austin pointed over to me to show Mckenna that the whole thing had been photographed and her expression summed up why I love photographing people during the most joyous moments of their lives!
who knew there was such thing as a snowy desert???
In my mind snow and the desert do not go together!! Perhaps that is because anytime I have driven through or been to the desert it has been scorching hot and dry! However while on a road trip last week the desert had something very different to show me… Snow!!! When I left Denver it was a blizzard, but I didn’t expect that heavy now to be in parts of Utah and Arizona! I was wrong and boy am I glad I was. A snowy desert is truly magical. It could be that I have never seen the red rocks of these canyons covered with a thick layer or snow or just the fact that I love winter time… Whatever it was, I was loving it!
We stopped and hiked to the Betakin cliff dwelling. It was absolutely amazing! What an awesome peek into the history of the area!
The quiet stillness in the air with only the sound of the snow crunching below my feet was incredibly peaceful.
Our lives are made up of stories. We are creating them everyday with every adventure we take, big or small. Some stories are joyful and others are heartbreaking… No matter what kind of story it is, it deserves to be told. If you have a story to tell, tell it!
Stories are told in many different way. For me, I share stories in the photographs that I take.
Some write books, make movies, travel the world speaking, while others sit around a fire and inspire others with their words… No matter what the form your stories take, tell them!
People love stories!!!
People love connecting and being able to relate to each other and one of the most powerful ways to do that is through the stories we tell.
As I started to ponder what my first SELFIE SUNDAY post should be, I came up with a few different ideas. I could simply introduce myself and perhaps list a few fun things about me. I could share a quirky fact that not many people know or tell you about my whirlwind romance with my bearded stud of a husband. I mainly wanted to keep it fun and upbeat. If you missed it, be sure to check out my original post explaining my new method of purposeful blogging – it explains it all! Selfie Sundays are going to be set aside for sharing personal things about me and my life. I want to get to know you all and it’s only fair that I allow you to get to know me as well. Anyways, as I thought more and more about what I wanted to start with I began writing down all of the ideas and getting excited about this first post and then I took a little break while I visited with my grandmother for about an hour while on a trip through Albuquerque, NM (where she lives).
Once I got back to the car I had a very different idea of what I wanted this first post to be about…
There is something truly magical about a winter engagement session! Especially in the Rocky Mountains!! I am constantly in awe of the stunning beauty that makes up Colorado. Growing up I remember sarcastically thinking that I couldn’t wait to move away because there was absolutely nothing to do… at all!! What a dumb dumb I was! The more I travel the world the more I fall in love with Colorado, my home!
I love shooting in every season of the year. Especially in Colorado because we have such a variety of seasons at any given time! There is something incredibly unique about shooting outside in the winter! The air has a crispness about it and the fresh smell is enchanting!
Lily Lake was absolutely gorgeous for Erica and Josh’s winter engagement session!
I have unquenchable wanderlust syndrome!! Meaning, I am restless and anxious with the desire to see every wondrous treasure our wonderful world has offer!
For the very first TRAVEL TUESDAY I will be sharing how our very exciting upcoming adventure was concocted!
It all started over a cup of coffee… As many wonderful things do!
My husband, Ryan and I were thrilled that two of our friends were able to spend the weekend with us at my families house in Estes Park. We packed up some movies, games, snacks and headed up for what we thought was going to be simply a relaxing weekend away. It ended up being so much more!
To start the FIRST Marketing Monday… I will be sharing a handful of tips on creating community and how important it truly is!
It is our human nature to have the desire to belong and to be apart of something far bigger than ourselves. I challenge you to be intentional about creating community in your own life… today!
Webster defines community as “a unified body of individuals and a group of people with common interests.” There are many different kinds of communities that we will belong to in our lives. As we grow and our interests/stages of life change, our communities may change. The key is to remain in communities no matter where we are at in our lives. Connecting with other people is one of the most crucial aspects of our lives (in my opinion)!
I want to share with you a handful of tips that I personally think are helpful when building a community!
