It was my first wedding back after having my precious little lady… It was tough to be away from her, but this was a perfect wedding to start my season with! Sara and David were simply wonderful and their wedding was at the breathtaking Wild Basin Lodge! What a beautiful spring day in the Rocky Mountains…

I loved Sara’s dress! It was whimsical and perfect for the beautiful scenery at Wild Basin Lodge. And those shoes… How amazing are they?!

I love a first look! It is such a precious time for a couple to have a few moments to themselves to see each other for the first time on their wedding day. It’s all about the emotion between the two of them.

Some words from the couple…
How did you meet?
We first met on a full moon group hike at Chautauqua. We watched the moon rise from the top of the First Flatiron and talked the whole hike down. Over the next few weeks, we kept running into each other, sometimes coincidentally and other times not so coincidentally. After a month of what we playfully refer to as”mutual stalking” we both showed up for at a film at Boulder Theater in the hopes of seeing each other. Two days later we were on our first date, snowshoeing at Brainard Lake.

How did you get engaged?
The full moon has always had special significance to us so we try to go for a hike or snowshoe on the full moon when we can. Last April, the full moon fell on a Friday so we made plans to go hiking after work. Sara assumed it would just be a nearby hike in Boulder, but David had a surprise trip planned to Rocky Mountain National Park. We set off from the Glacier Gorge Trailhead and after a couple miles stopped to make hot chocolate at a beautiful overlook. David pulled out a ring that he had hidden in with the stove and proposed. A little over a year later, we were married on the full moon.

What made you choose the Rocky Mountains and Wild Basin Lodge to host your wedding?
As Colorado natives with a love for the outdoors, we knew from the beginning that we wanted to have an outdoor ceremony in the mountains. Wild Basin Lodge’s gorgeous location on the edge of the national park where we got engaged was the perfect spot for us.
Tell me about your honeymoon plans?
We took a “mini-honeymoon” to Aspen the weekend after the wedding, but are looking forward to a longer honeymoon trip later this year. We’ve been talking about a taking a trip to Europe together since we first started dating and wanted to give the trip the planning it deserves after the wedding. We’re excited to do some hiking in the Alps and explore some European cities together!

What you thought of Wild Basin after your event?
We loved our experience at Wild Basin. The staff was fantastic to work with, the food was amazing, and the location was beautiful. Denice even kept the rain away!
