finding inspiration in unlikely places

Inspiration is defined as, “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” Finding Inspiration is such a gift and we should not take it for granted!!

Do you ever feel complacent? Like you are going through the motions of day to day life with little to no creative thought.. Like you are just doing what needs to be done each day and nothing else. I am guilty of this from time to time and each time I realize it, I feel a sting of disappointment. It is a true shame to live a day like this, yet alone a lifetime. Life is a magical gift and should be treated as such!!  You can find inspiration all around – you just have to be willing to look for it.

One place I find inspiration is quaint corners around the world that might go unnoticed. I took the above photograph while wandering a side street in Hallstatt, Austria. Hallstatt is a lovely village that sits at the bottom of a mountain at the shore of a lake. It is a truly magical place full of inspiring corners! I just love this doorway… It is truly enchanting!  There are places like this all over the world – you just have to go out and find them!

A few things I find inspiration in are Jesus Christ, wandering the world, art, business, relationships, and the stories of those that have lived before me.

Here is a list of some things one can do when seeking to find inspiration:

• Go on a hike in a new place
• Buy a plane ticket to somewhere new
• Try a new exercise
• Learn to paint or draw
• Read a book
• Try something you have always wanted to, but thought you couldn’t
• Turn off all ‘technologies’ for a day
• Listen to the stories of others
• Make a new friend or nurture a current relationship
• Listen to new music
• Spend the day with a child
• Write in a journal
• Sing in the shower
• Take time to relax and rest

The key is to find what inspires you and seek it constantly! Never live a mediocre life, what a heartbreak that would be. Live passionately and love abundantly!!
