Colorado Christmas

I absolutely love Christmas time! There is nothing like a wintery Colorado Christmas that is blanketed with snow and the joyous laughter of family and friends.

This Colorado Christmas was extra special because my dear sweet cousin who is attending college in Arizona came home for a week! I hadn’t seen her since March and it was a true treat getting to spend an entire week with her!! She is a doll and growing into such an incredible young lady!

This Christmas we did many festive things to get in the spirit and it was truly wonderful!

Below are many of our Colorado Christmas adventures! Please forgive any blurry photos – many of these were taken with my iPhone and some at night!

We spent an entire day wandering around Georgetown’s Colorado Christmas market. We have gone the last few years and it never disappoints! This quaint little town is decorated so beautifully and the smell of apple cider fills the air! We walked around town and browsed the unique antique shops… It wouldn’t be a trip to Georgetown without having dinner at The Happy Cooker!! They have the best fresh baked bread I have ever had! We have been eating at The Happy Cooker every time we visit Georgetown for as long as I can remember and it is always amazing!

My mom, sister, and I celebrated a girls Christmas day by having holiday high tea at The Denver Tea Room. It was incredibly relaxing and utterly delicious! The holiday teas and menu were even better than we expected… It was a festive and lovely experience! The tea room was decorated beautifully!!

After enjoying our tea and crumpets we did a little shopping downtown and it began to snow! I LOVE the snow! There is so incredibly magical about it!

Another exciting thing about this Christmas is that my incredible husband surprised me with my very own big girl Christmas tree!! I have never had a tree taller than 3 feet and he brought me home a huge and beautiful tree one evening and even went with me to get decorations and helped me to decorate it while playing Christmas music (which he is not the biggest fan of!)I am truly a blessed wifey!

My mother-in-law got some awesome photo props! What a blast those were! I’m thinking my husband looks great as Rudolph!

And how lovely and festive is The Stanley Hotel?? It is truly a stunning hotel no matter what time of year, but Christmas is my favorite when it is all decorated and feels like a true Colorado Christmas getaway!

My hubby and I also were in a gingerbread house contest and we won! We decided to make a gingerbread “cabin” and it was a hit! We spent a lot of time on it and I am thrilled at how it turned out! The houses were judged at a festive ugly sweater Christmas party with the young adults at our church. It was a cereal potluck! yumm! We went all out with our outfits!! colorado-christmas-5

and our lovely trip to the Denver Botanic Gardens “blossoms of lights”! It was stunning! I love this shot of my sister and her fiance in the tunnel of lights!

Driving around looking at Christmas lights has always been one of my very favorite things to do this time of year! My mom would always find us the most incredibly decorated houses. She has always had a way of making this time of year extra special!

We found a crazy obnoxiously amazing house this year!!

I hope that your Christmas, wherever it was celebrated was amazing and full of so much joy and love! This time of year really makes you realize what is truly important.. Far too often we get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we miss what matters most.
