These two were adorable. They were smiling and giggling the entire time and made my job so easy! My favorite part of their wedding was the vows. They both wrote their own and I’ll be honest… I wiped away a few tears. They were some of the most heartfelt and genuine words I have heard during a wedding.

Some words from Emily…

How did you meet?
We met our first week of college at swing dancing club. Brandon became my swing dancing partner and we started to become friends from there.
How did you get engaged?
We got engaged on the beach in San Diego while at surfing camp. He sang on the beach at sunset and I said yes.
What made you choose Estes Park and Black Canyon Inn?
We loves Estes Park because of the mountains and beautiful scenery, and we fell in love with Black Canyon Inn because of the beautiful property and really great staff. We also really liked the peaceful atmosphere of the Black Canyon Inn property.
Our love story started out as a good friendship and ended in a lifetime romance. We’re both totally goofy and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Emily and Brandon read the most beautiful vows to one another and were kind enough to share them with me…

Dear Emily Anne,

you are the best thing that has happened to me in this wonderful life. You’re my best friend, my partner in crime. I knew in my bones that you were the one for me that first night we went dancing under the stars. Now here we are at our wedding day and I know with everything that I am that this is right where God has put me and you have never looked more beautiful. Thank you for teaching me about my self and God, thank you for your company, your friendship and your patience. It’s been 3 years of amazing adventures and lessons learned. So From all that i have learned of life and love I promise you these things.

Pursue you

Discover more who you are every day

Grow and change with you

Love you with everything i have

Because Love is the best thing that we do

And now the part of my vows I’ve been writing for over a year. I promise to feed and cuddle and you and never let milk win.

To Love you for eternity just like the giant cookie. And to marry you and all of your books.

Dear Brandon Lau,

So, I have thought a lot about what I would say on our wedding day, and honestly, finding what to say is a really hard thing to do. And as I was thinking and thinking, it dawned on me that the thing to say on our wedding day is simply, “I love you.” I love you Brandon Lau. I love the person you are. I love the way you make me laugh. I love how you insist on arguing that you know better than the GPS when I get us lost driving. I love growing with you. I even love that you enough to eat hawaiian pizza for dinner when you want it. I love the person I am with you, and I love the idea of being a partner in life with you.

I once it heard it said that it is good to be loved, but profound to be understood. You understand me. You understand me in ways no one else does, and I am honored and humbled that you asked me to spend the rest of your days with you.

I’ve also heard it said that before you get married, you should ask yourself what you want, what your partner wants, and what you both might come up against. When I thought on this, I knew that you were who I wanted. You are the person I want when I am sad, happy, ridiculous, worried, or tired. You are who I want to grow old with.

I know we will come up against hard things in our lifetime and I want to make so many promises to you that will never be broken, but I am human and can’t guarantee that. I am also sure that even though I fail, God won’t. He never breaks a promise, and I ask Him now to help me keep mine.

I promise to do my best to uphold my promises. I promise to remember that we are a team facing life together. I promise to love you as Christ does. I promise to seek God in our marriage. I promise to keep paying attention to you no matter how long we have been married. I promise to be a person in your life who is cheering you on. I promise to be a shoulder you can cry on, a friend when you have none, and a faithful wife. I promise to keep trying new things with you. I promise to put my pride aside.

Ecc. 4:9-10 says,

“Two are better than one,

because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down,

one can help the other up.”

I promise to help you up, and to have your back.

I am so excited to marry you. I am sure that we have a lot of crazy adventures in front of us, and in the words of Tolkien, “I think I am quite ready for another adventure.”

All my love,

Emily Lau

*winter wedding* Stephanie & Alex

I love winter weddings!!!!!

Stephanie & Alex had an intimate elopement at Black Canyon Inn… they exchanged vows (that they had written themselves 🙂 ) in the beautiful pavilion!

I had a blast walking around the snow covered property with them hearing about their love story and how they got to this very special day. They were both so much fun and kind… such a blast to work with!

I love the unique vintage touches of Stephanie’s stunning dress, pearls and those awesome sunglasses!

Angela & Marshall’s Estes Park Wedding

I’m not sure where to even start…

When I met with Angela & Marshall in July I knew I just had to shoot their wedding… I was sold after chatting with them and learning how genuine and laid back they both were and THEN they told me that Marshall would be wearing his awesome sandals on their wedding day!! How cool is that?? I was thrilled when they booked me and couldn’t wait for their big day!

I couldn’t have imagined how amazing this day would be!

When I arrived and saw the big smile on Angela’s face I knew it was going to be awesome. THEN it got a million times better after Angela walked up behind Marshall and he turned around to see his gorgeous bride for the first time on their wedding day. His reaction was one of a kind and something I will not forget. The love and intense laughter that these two shared the entire day was incredible and such a joy to witness and capture.

Every wedding is amazing in it’s own way… This one will stick with me forever simply because of the true kindness that they share between each other and that overflows to those around them.

Their joy is simply contagious and I feel honored to have met them!!!!

Here is a just a small teaser from their wedding day yesterday. More to come very soon! 🙂

Venue : Black Canyon Inn & Twin Owls Steakhouse

*Eric & Lisa* Colorado Wedding!

The moment I first met Lisa and Eric I knew that their wedding was going to be something rather special! They are two of the sweetest people I have ever met… full of joy and laughter! I had a blast when we met in Denver for their engagement shoot in May… After the shoot we enjoyed a drink at Starbucks and chatted a bit about their wedding day. On my drive home from the shoot I couldn’t help but be 100 times more excited for their wedding! The way Lisa and Eric looked at each other was precious and the kindness they showed one another was something to admire. As a photographer it’s a dream come true (at least for me) to have a couple that truly adores and cherishes each other… Lisa and Eric were this kind of couple.

They were not only kind to one another, but they were genuinely great to me as well. It was so nice chatting with them for over a year planning their engagement shoot and then their wedding… When their big day finally arrived I couldn’t have been happier! Their wedding was PERFECT! The weather was amazing… It rained for a short while, but thankfully we were in a pavilion and were able to stay dry. With the amazing smell from the rain was also incredible light (dream come true!).

Eric and Lisa had an intimate wedding ceremony at Black Canyon Inn… One of my favorite venues to work at! The views are absolutely breathtaking and the staff is kind and helpful in so many ways! Following the wedding was a super fun reception at Twin Owls Steakhouse. The food their is amazing!!

Brigette at Floral Design of Europe created gorgeous floral arrangements that smelt incredible.

Marci at Colorado Rose Cake Co. designed a unique and stunning cake… I love the flowers flowing down and around the front. Not only was it visually marvelous… It also tasted AMAZING! (as always) 🙂

James Davis played such beautiful music during both the ceremony and reception!

Lisa and Eric were headed to Austria shortly after their wedding… How exciting!! What an incredible adventure to have as a newly married couple.

I wish them both all the love and happiness in the world as they begin this new chapter in their lives… 🙂

Ashley & Travis

What a gorgeous day it was yesterday! The sun was shining and the wind was just blowing a little bit… It was a great day for a wedding! Ashley was a stunning bride and her groom couldn’t have looked happier as she walked down the aisle. They exchanged their vows at Black Canyon Inn with 20 or so of their closest family and friends. It was a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony.

Congrats to the happy couple! 🙂
