I can’t believe Christmas is in ONE WEEK!!! Christmas time is my favorite!! As cliché as it is, it’s truly a magical time of year… I love the how festive things become. I love how we slow down and enjoy time with our family and friends. I love giving gifts. I love any coffee drink that has peppermint or eggnog in it and I absolutely LOVE that it becomes socially acceptable to eat dessert all day long… Continue reading “Merry Christmas – Denver Union Station”
Everyone tells you the time will just fly right by, but I wasn’t quite prepared for it. This year swept by me like a gust of wind. I could not have imagined a more precious little girl. She has changed my world and even though it has only been a year I almost can’t remember what life is like without her. She made me a mom and it is a role I play with tremendous joy. I know that I have been a bit absent from blogging these past months and I apologize! I hope to change that in the near future, but I did want to share something with you today that has been weighing on my heart lately. It’s something that most people already know and probably struggle with as well, but also something that tends to be lost in the back of our minds as we become encompassed in the daily grind of everyday life. It is something that is simple yet complex and is too often forgotten. Continue reading “Finding Joy Everyday”
I LOVE fall! It is my favorite time of year. The chilly weather gets me so excited about all of the festive times that are soon to come! So, of course I was over the moon that my amazing photographer father was able to take some family photos for us during Adeline’s first fall season!
We met at a reservoir near our home and literally took these photos right on the side of the road. This park is BEAUTIFUL and during the fall it’s simply magical!! Continue reading “Family Photos – Whimsical Fall”
A tribe is defined as :
a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.
I have a new group of mama friends and we call ourselves the MMC Tribe. We are all around the same age, are what you might call crunchy moms, and have bonded over the new tiny humans that we have all recently created! Creating connections with other human beings is one of the greatest things we will do in this life. To bond with like-minded individuals is simply amazing. A true blessing in a world of chaos. The Wonderful World of Food
Adeline turned 6 months on Saturday! Oh my! Here I am crying again! This whole being a mom thing has turned me into quite a hot mess! Anyways, we planned to introduce her to the wonderful world of food once she turned 6 months old and I have been counting down the days! I had done a tone of research and asked other mamas and decided that we would wait until 6 months for a number of reasons and we have decided to do a modified form of Baby Led Weaning. Adeline had been showing signs of being interested in food for a few weeks… She would quite literally pull my plate of food towards herself while sitting on my lap during mealtimes! It is fun to watch her be so interested in something. Hey eyes get so wide! If only we could know what babies think! Continue reading “Wonderful World of Food”
I love books. Everything about them. I love their covers, binding, and the enchanting words within… Story time is one of my very favorite things! My husband would tell you I collect books and I guess that’s true. I have more books than there is space for in our little two bedroom condo, but I just can’t seem to help myself. I do have a bad habit of starting books and getting distracted with another book and then another and another. I have many books with bookmarks in them on my shelves, but I fine with that! There are many strange things that I could be collecting so I think having an abundance of the written word is just fine! Continue reading “Story Time”
I always knew I wanted to be a mom… Just ask Ryan and he will tell you I talked about it often! I have always enjoyed taking care of babies/kids and did a ton of babysitting throughout the years and I just knew one day I wanted to be a mama. What I did not know or couldn’t possibly fathom is how much I would love this precious little girl… I imagined what it would be like, but until she was born I had NO idea what it would feel like. She brings me so much joy… When I catch her gaze and she smiles at me, my heart melts!! It’s my favorite thing and I could just stare and smile with her forever. Continue reading “Becoming Mom”
Birth Story – Natural Childbirth
Disclaimer::: This post is raw and personal!
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to have a natural childbirth outside of the hospital. At first I didn’t know much about the differences between the delivery methods, but after doing research I knew that this was the type of birth story I wanted to have. I do believe that hospitals are crucial and play an amazingly helpful role, when they are needed. I don’t think that for a low risk and healthy pregnancy that they are necessary. I think in some cases they can do more harm than good. With that said, that is just my opinion and personal preference. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a woman choosing to have a mediated birth in the hospital – It’s just not the path I would choose. Every birth story is unique to each woman. Goodness it has been quite the whirlwind lately! Last time I posted was at one month prior to my due date… A lot has happened since then and now I have a precious 4 week old baby girl that I absolutely adore. I mentioned in my previous post about how my birth story might not play out the way I had hoped due to the fact that sweet little Adeline had been breech since my 34 week appointment (perhaps even before then). I had tried numerous natural ways to try and encourage her to flip and none of them seemed to work. After many tears and much prayer, we decided to go ahead and have the external version to try and flip her. It was not an easy decision since there are some risks, but after weighing them against those of a breech birth we decided this was best for us. We checked in at Swedish Hospital at 7am the day I was 37 weeks and 4 days along. I was really nervous since I wasn’t sure what to expect and from what I had researched, this was not going to be a comfortable procedure. Mostly I was just praying and hoping that it would work and that Dr. Hall could get Adeline to flip to be head down. Continue reading “My Birth Story – Welcome Adeline”
