Black Canyon Inn Wedding – Emily & Brandon

Congratulations to Emily & Brandon! What a beautiful intimate wedding at Black Canyon Inn!

These two were adorable. They were smiling and giggling the entire time and made my job so easy! My favorite part of their wedding was the vows. They both wrote their own and I’ll be honest… I wiped away a few tears. They were some of the most heartfelt and genuine words I have heard during a wedding.

Having so much fun

Some words from Emily…

How did you meet?
We met our first week of college at swing dancing club. Brandon became my swing dancing partner and we started to become friends from there.
How did you get engaged?
We got engaged on the beach in San Diego while at surfing camp. He sang on the beach at sunset and I said yes.
What made you choose Estes Park and Black Canyon Inn?
We loves Estes Park because of the mountains and beautiful scenery, and we fell in love with Black Canyon Inn because of the beautiful property and really great staff. We also really liked the peaceful atmosphere of the Black Canyon Inn property.
Our love story started out as a good friendship and ended in a lifetime romance. We’re both totally goofy and wouldn’t have it any other way!

Emily and Brandon read the most beautiful vows to one another and were kind enough to share them with me…

Dear Emily Anne,

you are the best thing that has happened to me in this wonderful life. You’re my best friend, my partner in crime. I knew in my bones that you were the one for me that first night we went dancing under the stars. Now here we are at our wedding day and I know with everything that I am that this is right where God has put me and you have never looked more beautiful. Thank you for teaching me about my self and God, thank you for your company, your friendship and your patience. It’s been 3 years of amazing adventures and lessons learned. So From all that i have learned of life and love I promise you these things.

Pursue you

Discover more who you are every day

Grow and change with you

Love you with everything i have

Because Love is the best thing that we do

And now the part of my vows I’ve been writing for over a year. I promise to feed and cuddle and you and never let milk win.

To Love you for eternity just like the giant cookie. And to marry you and all of your books.

Dear Brandon Lau,

So, I have thought a lot about what I would say on our wedding day, and honestly, finding what to say is a really hard thing to do. And as I was thinking and thinking, it dawned on me that the thing to say on our wedding day is simply, “I love you.” I love you Brandon Lau. I love the person you are. I love the way you make me laugh. I love how you insist on arguing that you know better than the GPS when I get us lost driving. I love growing with you. I even love that you enough to eat hawaiian pizza for dinner when you want it. I love the person I am with you, and I love the idea of being a partner in life with you.

I once it heard it said that it is good to be loved, but profound to be understood. You understand me. You understand me in ways no one else does, and I am honored and humbled that you asked me to spend the rest of your days with you.

I’ve also heard it said that before you get married, you should ask yourself what you want, what your partner wants, and what you both might come up against. When I thought on this, I knew that you were who I wanted. You are the person I want when I am sad, happy, ridiculous, worried, or tired. You are who I want to grow old with.

I know we will come up against hard things in our lifetime and I want to make so many promises to you that will never be broken, but I am human and can’t guarantee that. I am also sure that even though I fail, God won’t. He never breaks a promise, and I ask Him now to help me keep mine.

I promise to do my best to uphold my promises. I promise to remember that we are a team facing life together. I promise to love you as Christ does. I promise to seek God in our marriage. I promise to keep paying attention to you no matter how long we have been married. I promise to be a person in your life who is cheering you on. I promise to be a shoulder you can cry on, a friend when you have none, and a faithful wife. I promise to keep trying new things with you. I promise to put my pride aside.

Ecc. 4:9-10 says,

“Two are better than one,

because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down,

one can help the other up.”

I promise to help you up, and to have your back.

I am so excited to marry you. I am sure that we have a lot of crazy adventures in front of us, and in the words of Tolkien, “I think I am quite ready for another adventure.”

All my love,

Emily Lau

Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding Photography – Erica and Ryan

Spruce-Mountain-Ranch-Wedding-PhotographyCongratulations Erica & Ryan!!

What a dream wedding this was! I had been looking forward to their big day since last summer when I first spoke with Erica.

Ryan and Erica’s love for one another and those around them was evident the entire day. They were surrounded by so many smiling faces!

My very favorite part was how everything centered around Jesus and their love for the Lord. Continue reading “Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding Photography – Erica and Ryan”

Denver Newborn Photography

Denver-Newborn-Photography-1Welcome to the world Harper Lynn – Denver Newborn Photography

What a precious little love Harper is. She is already cherished by so many.

It was a privilege to be asked to take these photographs the day after she was born. There is something purely magical about a newborn baby. Their squishy cheeks, tiny toes, and loud cry all create this incredible tiny human that is just now trying to figure out this crazy huge world that it was brought into. For most, this will be a lifelong lesson to learn.

There is so much joy in these moments and I loved capturing them. Continue reading “Denver Newborn Photography”

Joyful Childlike Christmas

I first met Steph a year or two after highschool… At that time I had no idea what a life changing friendship it would turn into. I am beyond thankful for her and the role she has played in my life. We connect on so many levels… For instance our crunchy approach to mamahood, our love of spending way too much money at craft stores, a guilty pleasure in young adult novels [Harry Potter and Twilight for the win!], and our consumption of coffee and tea… Just to name a few! There are some things that we differ on significantly, but have been able to set aside because of the value we hold our friendship to. Continue reading “Joyful Childlike Christmas”

Merry Christmas – Denver Union Station

Merry-Christmas-Denver-Union-StationI can’t believe Christmas is in ONE WEEK!!! Christmas time is my favorite!! As cliché as it is, it’s truly a magical time of year… I love the how festive things become. I love how we slow down and enjoy time with our family and friends. I love giving gifts. I love any coffee drink that has peppermint or eggnog in it and I absolutely LOVE that it becomes socially acceptable to eat dessert all day long… Continue reading “Merry Christmas – Denver Union Station”

Wild Basin Lodge is a beautiful venue for a wedding. It is nestled in the Rocky Mountains and sits right next to the Saint Vrain River. It’s surrounded by lush forest and has a stunning view of Mount Meeker. They have two breathtaking ceremony options… One is in a meadow and the other an amphitheater by the river. Each is gorgeous in its own way!

Madison and Shawn chose to say their i do’s in the lovely meadow surrounded by their closest family and friends. It was a beautiful sunny spring day. Continue reading “Estes Park Spring Wedding”

Happy Birthday Adeline

Happy-Birthday-Adeline4Happy Birthday Adeline

Everyone tells you the time will just fly right by, but I wasn’t quite prepared for it. This year swept by me like a gust of wind. I could not have imagined a more precious little girl. She has changed my world and even though it has only been a year I almost can’t remember what life is like without her. She made me a mom and it is a role I play with tremendous joy.
