Hello! I am a wife, a mom, Jesus follower, book worm, and lover of adveture! I am a wedding photographer located in Denver and though I primarily shoot in Colorado, I am often taken over by wanderlust and am available for worldwide travel! I specialize in photographing joyful and adventurous couples that are head over heels in love! I love everything about weddings!! On this blog I will be sharing wedding inspiration, travel adventures, and personal stories. I love the creative side of what I do, but I also really enjoy the business aspect. Especially the marketing side! I will be sharing what I learn along the way as well!
Janel & Jay had a beautiful Wild Basin Lodge spring wedding
The sun was shinning bright and the rays beating down on my skin felt absolutely wonderful. I love the first wedding of the spring season! I have usually had a lot of the winter to focus on education and getting my business organized for the upcoming year and once weddings start then the real fun begins! I was really looking forward to Janel and Jay’s wedding – I had only spoke to them over the phone, but could tell it was going to be amazing! Janel was so sweet and kind to me leading up to the big day and when I arrived the smile beaming from her face radiated with pure joy! I instantly felt welcomed by her and her family. There is something truly special about spending such a happy day with people – you get to know them on a level right away that you most likely wouldn’t have other wise. My wonderful husband and I are getting pretty good at planning European adventures! We are currently planning our 3rd and we leave in a little over a week! Oh my!! I am getting so excited! We have been blessed enough to go on some incredible trips together in our almost 3 years of being married! For our honeymoon we took an Alaskan cruise, which was amazing! Alaska is breathtaking. It’s unlike any place I have ever seen. The following two years we took the most amazing European adventure trips! We have learned a lot about planning international trips in the process, which I will share in a minute!
There is only one of you! You are what makes your business stand out in the masses!
As human beings it is natural for us to want to be loved and accepted by everyone. However, this dream is unrealistic and if perused can lead to heartbreak. We are never going to be able to please everyone… We can try, but the result is a constant changing of who we are to conform to what others want. People are far too diverse to all be happy with the same things. As a business owner in a creative industry that can be very hard to come to terms with and I still struggle with it from time to time. When you put your heart and soul into creating something for someone your desire is for them to fall in love with what you have created. Most of the time this is the case, but there are those few times when it is the opposite and sometimes the bad situations can shine brighter than all of the positive ones. What a true shame and disservice that is to you and your art!
Inspiration is defined as, “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” Finding Inspiration is such a gift and we should not take it for granted!!
Do you ever feel complacent? Like you are going through the motions of day to day life with little to no creative thought.. Like you are just doing what needs to be done each day and nothing else. I am guilty of this from time to time and each time I realize it, I feel a sting of disappointment. It is a true shame to live a day like this, yet alone a lifetime. Life is a magical gift and should be treated as such!! You can find inspiration all around – you just have to be willing to look for it.
YAY to new adventures!! My best friend is pregnant!!!
Kasie and I first met in 7th grade when we were two awkward young girls that hadn’t really found their footing just yet. That time in a girls life can be confusing and hectic… Having a friend that you can truly count on makes all the difference in the world. We have quite literally grown up together! It’s common to have many best friends throughout the different stages in ones life and while I have made tons of amazing friends along the way (thus far) I am beyond blessed to have had Kasie as my BFF through everything! We have been on many new adventures together and I could not be more excited for this one!!
I love Paris!!! The city of lights and love is truly enchanting and I was smitten from the very beginning!
I have always dreamed of visiting Paris.. I took 4 years of French in high school and would daydream of when I would be able to travel to the city of lights! My little sister and I would watch Passport to Paris over and over when we were younger and pretend we were Mary-Kate and Ashley gallivanting around the city… Continue reading “Enchanting Paris – Inspiring Imagination”
I had just written a blog post about why I think it is important to have someone photograph your proposal. It is such a magical moment that is consumed with raw emotion and I truly believe it deserves to be documented!!
It’s funny how things work out… The day after I posted my thoughts on proposal photography, I received an email from Tyler requesting just that! He had plans to propose to his girlfriend, Brittany and wanted to have the moment photographed. I was SO excited to get his email.. Just the thought of shooting a proposal makes me giddy! While I truly love everything about wedding photography and being able to document such a special occasion for my clients… There is nothing quite like shooting a proposal. I have only done a handful of these and each time I love them more and more! It is not a thought out moment for the one being proposed to. They haven’t thought ahead of what their reaction and expressions will be. Sure, they can imagine that they would say yes and be excited, but there is no rehearsing or daydreaming that can compare to that one single moment. The moment the question is asked it, the response is raw wave of emotion and I absolutely love it!
If you remember the recent travel Tuesday post about my photo adventure to the Tetons then you’ll know the next stop on that trip was Yellowstone National Park… I have never been anywhere like it! I’ve never seen so many geysers shooting hot steam from the earth! It was incredible and very smelly, due to the sulfuric acid spouting from the ground! Driving to Yellowstone my dad was talking about how he had always wanted to take me here and that it’s one of his favorite places. It was making me even more excited with how stoked he was! When we drove into the park and saw a buffalo crossing the road, I knew it was going to be awesome!
Easter is a day for celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am more thankful than words can ever describe for all that Jesus has done! His sacrifice is unlike any other and I am truly grateful and in awe. HE is RISEN!
This time of year also bring memories of joy as I often spent it surrounded by family as we colored eggs, hunted for them, and sat down to count our ‘treasures’…
